(Friends Across the Nullarbor)

Friday, 22 December
From 4pm
Walk-ins only

Wines of While is under new ownership, and we're having a launch party. Please come say hello!

Friend and chef Ali Currey-Voumard (ex head chef, Public Wine Shop and Agrarian Kitchen) will be joining our inaugural chef in residence Blake Ellis in the kitchen to dish up some new-old favourite recipes, and a special wine list will showcase our favourite producers from Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

Walk-ins only, from 4pm til late. Kitchen closes at 9.30pm, or until sold out.

This beautiful poster is an original artwork by Boorloo/Perth artists Stephen Brameld and Jay Staples. Inspired by the physical and emotional experience of the Nullarbor, its four quadrants represent many journeys. The bottom right sees a gugubarra (kookaburra), a bird native to the east and introduced here in 1897 in a bid to control snake numbers. Directly above is a semblance of a vast, flat, salt-washed landscape, perhaps viewed through a car windscreen, splattered with bugs. To the left, the ever-present clear blue sky, and below that: the happenings within a train carriage. All framed by the soil-red of earth below the surface, these loose vignettes reflect the images we store as we travel east-west and that come to define our imagination.
